Your card, your circle

One Code. Everyone Hands You Their Card.

Phones can read a business card in a second, so reading was never the hard part. The person holding the card is the one who knows their details โ€” and every scanner so far asked the other person to guess. Flip that, and the exchange gets faster, correct and more considerate. One code, shown anywhere, and people hand you their cards.

You just scanned someone's code and landed here. Here is what it is, and why it is worth thirty seconds of your time.

The business card is not the problem

Business cards still work. People carry them, hand them over and keep them. The problem is what happens after: a stack on a desk, a photo in a camera roll, a name you can't match to a face a week later.

Scanning apps tried to fix this. Point your camera at a card and it becomes a contact. That helps, but it puts all the work on the person collecting: find the card, hold it steady, fix the name the camera misread, and do it again for every person they meet. At a busy event, nobody has time for that. Most cards stay in the pocket.

Turn it around

On Kootami, the person who wants to connect does the work, and it is small. You show one code. Anyone who scans it is asked a single question: share your card with this person? They type their name and number, and their company, role or email if they want them known. Thirty seconds, no app, no account.

Their card lands in your wallet, in their own words, correct, filed under the event where you met. You did nothing but show a screen.

That is what the code you just scanned does. The person whose name is on this page is asking for your card, not giving you theirs. You can still save their contact from this page; it is right there.

It works anywhere there are people

  • At an event โ€” show it on your phone, or put it on your badge. People hand you cards while you talk.
  • On a stage โ€” a speaker's slide, a panel's name card. Fifty people who would never reach you can give you their card.
  • At a stall โ€” an exhibitor puts the code on the counter. Every visitor who wants a follow-up leaves their card.
  • Online โ€” the same link in a social-media bio, an email signature or a WhatsApp status. Anyone, anywhere, with no printing at all.

The same code works in every one of these places, because it is one link that belongs to one person.

What you get back

When you share your card, you're not only sending one. You can make a card like this one in the same thirty seconds; your details are already filled in, and a one-time code to your phone makes it yours. From then on, you show your code, and people hand you theirs.

And when both of you are on Kootami, a share is a connection. No typing, no scanning, no messages you didn't send.

What it builds: your network, in your pocket

A code collects cards. What builds up over a few weeks is more useful than any stack of them: a clear picture of who you actually know.

The appโ€™s own screens. Every name, company and number shown is invented.

Every card, filed where you met. Cards land under the event, stage or counter they came from, in the words of the person who gave them. "The textile buyer from the expo" is one tap, not an evening with a shoebox. A business with more than one counter labels each printed code, and every counter keeps its own list.

The follow-up, the same evening. The people you met who are not connected yet are lined up for you, and a reminder comes once, that evening. One tap sends your card from your own WhatsApp, in your own name. Nobody else is ever messaged.

Your reach, measured. Network Strength shows where the people you know are and what they do โ€” by city, profession, specialisation and industry. You see the network you have built, and where it is thin before you need it.

What never happens

  • Nobody is messaged. Kootami does not send texts, WhatsApp or email to anyone whose card is shared or scanned. If someone reaches out, it is them, from their own phone.
  • Nothing is posted anywhere. A card goes to one person's wallet and nowhere else.
  • You choose what you give. Name and number is enough. Add email, company or role if you want them known.
  • No account needed to share a card. You need one only to collect them.

Why this, why now

Phones can read a card in a second, so reading was never the hard part. The hard part is that the person with the card is the one who knows their details, and every system so far asked the other person to guess. Flip that, and the exchange gets faster, correct, and more considerate. Nobody collects what you didn't choose to give.

A card is a way of saying "contact me". This is the same, with the typing done by the right person.

Share your card with the person on this page, or save their contact โ€” both are above.
